Saidul Kari0m Mintu, mayor of Jhenaidah municipality, was tested Covid-19 positive. Jhenaidah civil surgeon Dr Prasenjit Biswas Partahah confirmed the matter on Sunday night.
The mayor was engaged in distributing face masks and hand sanitizer among the poor people. He had prayed for the wellbeing of the people in the global pandemic crisis.
Meanwhile, a jeweler died of coronavirus on Sunday night. The man belongs to Arpara village in Kaliganj town. He was suffering with fever, cold, cough, chest complications for last few days and died at his home.
The number of death following corona virus pandemic toll to 13, while the number of affected persons to 645. Of the total 235 were declared covid 19 free in the district.
Civil surgeon office source said some 19 persons were infected newly in last 24 hours in the district.
