Deputy Commissioner (DC), superintendent of police (SP), district election officer (DEO), UNO and other government officials had warned against the electoral code of conduct violations following the fifth phase of Union Parishad elections. They were speaking in a sharing meeting with the candidates and concerned government officials maintaining law and order following the upcoming elections at Harainakundu upazila parishad auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.
Presided over by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Syed Nafis Sultana, DC Mozibor Rahman attended the sharing as chief guest, while SP Muntasirul Islam and DEO Abdus Salek attended as special guests. Returning officer also upazila agriculture officer (UAO) Hafiz Hasan, upazila election officer Nur Ullah, Harinakundu press club president Saifuzzaman Taju and general secretary M Mahbub Milu among others participated in the sharing.
A number of candidates fighting for the position of chairmen and ward members had brought wide allegation of electoral code of conduct violations following the fifth phase of union parishad elections against a number of candidates.
DC, SP, DEO, UNO and other government officials had clarified the instruction of the election commission (EC) saying no one will be escaped if they are anyhow involved in evil doings following the elections.
Adequate law enforcers along with executive magistrates will furnish their duties and bring the culprits under book for a free and fare elections, they said.
