Bangladeshi model-actress Jessia Islam recently made headlines at the Miss Grand International pageant in Cambodia, not only for her participation but for her powerful message through fashion. Jessia, who represented Bangladesh in the global competition, used her outfit to highlight social issues, sparking support from student movements back home.

Arriving in Cambodia on October 1, Jessia shared updates with fans on her social media, posting photos and videos from the event. In her latest post, she wore an outfit adorned with hashtags referencing issues like “quota movement,” “freedom,” “student power,” “free Bengal,” “cancellation of quota,” and “equal rights.” The bold messaging on her attire resonated deeply with students in Bangladesh, who praised her stance in the comments.

Jessia explained to the media that her preparation for this pageant began two months ago, as she aimed to represent Bangladesh’s identity and struggles on an international platform. “This is my third time in an international competition. My goal is to proudly present Bangladesh to the world, so it’s always remembered,” she said.

Although Jessia didn’t win the title, she garnered admiration and support for her unique statement. The competition concluded on October 25, with India’s Rachel Rupta taking the crown. Jessia’s impactful message, however, has left a lasting impression on audiences and her followers, standing as a testament to her love for Bangladesh and her advocacy for its people.
