Jeshoreshwari temple gets ready to welcome Modi

Preparations are being made to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Jeshoreshwari temple (Kalimandir) marking his expected visit to the temple on March 27. Renovation of Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple at Ishwaripur in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira is going on in full swing in the connection.

The Indian prime minister is scheduled to arrive Bangladesh on March 26 to attend the Golden Jubilee celebration of Bangladesh's independence.

Although the visit is very short, the district administration is getting fully prepared to welcome the head of the Indian government. Even the local land office is being redesigned where he will take rest. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit is significant in the run-up to the West Bengal elections in India, he has chosen Shyamnagar in Satkhira, the southernmost district of Bangladesh, out of religious affection.

Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Assistant High Commissioner of India Rajesh Kumar Raina, Deputy Commissioner S M Mostafa Kamal and other senior officials of the administration visited the temple site.

Dilip Mukherjee, a priest at the Jessoreshwari Kali Temple in Shyamnagar, said that worship is held at the temple every Saturday and Tuesday. Hundreds of devotees gather here.  Satkhira district Matua community president Krishnanand Mukherjee said that with the arrival of Narendra Modi festive mood is prevailing among the Hindu community in the area. Satkhira superintendent of police Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman said that the issue of Narendra Modi's security was being handled under the supervision of the SSF. Khulna Range DIG Mohid Uddin has already visited the area on behalf of the police. 

A three-tier security zone has been set up for its overall security. Since March 1, the temple and the surrounding area have been brought under police security, monitoring the movement of the members of general public by setting up check posts. Local hotels, dormitories and other places have been brought under surveillance.

Satkhira Deputy Commissioner S M Mostafa Kamal told reporters that all sorts of preparations are being made in coordination with all departments to ensure the secured movement of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as also to keep respect to him intact. In the meantime, high-ranking officials of the concerned ministries and departments have visited Shyamnagar several times. 

Since it is a state visit, nothing will be lacking to keep his dignity intact. The district administration is working day and night to present the history and heritage of Bangladesh and Satkhira to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. All kinds of work including construction of roads and helipads are being completed soon. All the officials of the district administration will remain vigilant till the last moment of his visit.
