JCI Dhaka Uptown holds skill development webinar

JCI Dhaka Uptown, in collaboration with JCI Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, has recently organised a ‘Skill Development Webinar' to fight the pandemic and to bring a positive change in the community.

Four different aspects: 1) Business Recovery 2) Workforce Empowerment 3) Mental Health Awareness 4) Supporting Local Entrepreneurs, were the focus of the webinar which was attended by almost 200 people, with 5,000 people watching live on Google Meet and the JCI Dhaka Uptown Official Facebook page, the organiser said in a statement.

Four speakers from Bangladesh and Malaysia addressed numerous opportunities for youth to advance in their fields, as well as ways and experiences that would help them guide among the workforce, preserve mental health, and inspire local investors to execute and recover businesses.

Senator Oscar Tiu, Local President 2021 of JCI Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, gave the opening address, in which he greeted all of the speakers, guests, and webinar participants.

Anders Lindstrom, Business Consultant & Founder at LL Consult Limited, Malaysia, spoke about cost – effective solutions, revenue sources, potential steps to recover from a business, SEA education, and major workplace challenges faced by mid-corporates, remote working opportunities, expertise in all areas of a business, ways to internationalise business and several other topics throughout his presentation on Business Recovery.

Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Marketing Officer, Nagad, discussed several ways to make the workforce more effective, including cooperating with employees, engaging with employees at the right time and in the right place, asking team members about their priorities while considering their objectives, and assisting employees in identifying their strengths, assisting the team in overcoming obstacles and achieving results.

Armin Zaman Khan, Co-Founder & CEO of Romoni Services Ltd, spoke about how to start a company, how to finance a business, the ecosystem for entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, and organisations supporting the ecosystem.

Finally, Ivan Lee, Psychologist, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore, talked about Mental Health Awareness, emphasizing risk factors of mental health conditions, how mental health affects our abilities, how mental health affects our ability to socialize, ways to enhance our mental health and several other topics.

The closing remarks was given by Senator Rezwanur Rahman, Local President, 2021 of JCI Dhaka Uptown where he spoke about JCI RISE's three pillars, which include empowering young members to create projects that focus on maintaining and restoring economies through promoting small, local enterprises, motivating the workforce through youth entrepreneurship, and preserving mental health and wellness.

He also praised all the talented speakers and ways to bring a positive impact in the society.

The Project Coordinator and Chairperson of Committee Syeda Nabila Arefin and Co- Chairperson of Committee Pushpita Shahriar Dutty believe that this webinar can create an impact among the youth by providing strategic and operational solutions during the pandemic.
