A Jubo Dal leader was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of miscreants under Sadar upazila in Joypurhat district on Wednesday.
The incident took place around 12:30 PM at Islamnagar area in the district.
The deceased, Biplob Ahmed Piyal, 30, was a senior joint-convener of Joypurhat district unit JCD.
According to locals, a group of miscreants took Piyal from his home and stabbed him mercilessly with lethal weapons, leaving him seriously injured on the spot.
Hearing his screams, locals rescued him from the spot and took him to Joypurhat General Hospital for treatment where on-duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination, said Joypurhat Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Nur Alam Siddique said.
The process of filing a case was underway in this connection, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in the incident.
