2 JCD miscreants held, handed over to police

Some unruly activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Dal (BCD) ransacked one bus and two trucks on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway at Shibpur area of  Baneswar under Puthia upazila around 2-30 p.m. Wednesday.

Local people chased and captured two of the activists and handed them over to police. They were identified as Badhan and Mukut. Police informed the captured two pro-blockade troublemakers were the workers of Chhatra Dal from Natore. Locals also ransacked a motorbike being used by the pro-blockaders.

According to eye-witness sources, the pro-blockade activists numbering 8 to 10 arrived at Shibpur Bazar on several motorbikes and they started to ransack a Rajshahi-Rangpur route bus there. Nearly 50 passengers on board the bus turned panicky and by being afraid, women and children inside the bus started to cry. Two passengers of the bus were also injured by being struck by the broken glass. 

Watching the act of vandalism, local people chased the attackers and captured Badhan and Mukut from the scene while others managed to escape. 

Another group of pro-blockade activists ransacked two trucks at the same spot on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway and managed to escape.

Rafiqul Islam, Inspector( investigation) of Puthia police station said the captured pro-blockaders are BCD activists. They are being interrogated and legal action is underway in the incident of the ransacking of the bus and the trucks. Police have also seized the motorbike being used by the pro-blockade activists.
