Jaya to star opposite Manoj in 'Shada Ami Kalo Ami'

Sayantan Mukherjee's upcoming web series titled 'Shada Ami Kalo Ami' is based on the 1967 Naxalbari uprising, which was led by the Indian revolutionary leader, Charu Majumdar. The story of the web series is based on the book, "Shada Ami Kalo Ami" by former police officer Runu Guha Niyogi.

Renowned Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan will play the role of Charu Majumdar's wife Leela Majumdar in the series. Earlier, it is learnt that eminent Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play the role of Charu Majumdar.

However, Nawaz's schedule does not match and that the director looked for alternatives and now popular Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee to play the role of Charu Majumdar in the series opposite Jaya Ahsan.

One of the important characters is Charu's companion Kanu Sanyal, which will be played by Bangladeshi prominent actor Chanchal Chowdhury. He has been finalised for Kanu Sanyal’s role in the web series 'Shada Ami Kalo Ami'.

Chanchal Chowdhury is also popular in Kolkata like Jaya Ahsan. In the meantime, he has acted in Gautam Ghosh's web series titled 'Moner Manush', Zee5's 'Contract' and 'Ladies and Gentlemen', Hoichoi’s 'Taqdeer' and 'Boli'.

Chanchal was supposed to be in Srijit Mukherjee's web series titled ‘Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’ but due to corona it got canceled at the last minute. Apart from that, Anjan Dutt had expressed his desire to work with Chanchal a few days ago. All in all, the creator has created an interest to work with Chanchal.

The shooting of the series will start after next year's Durga Puja. It will be made in three seasons of the series will tell the story of the leftist movement around the world from 1947 to 2010.

 The director wants to shoot the series in Kolkata, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, India as well as China and Russia. 'Shada ami kaalo ami' will be made in Bengali, Hindi and English. 

Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal will be seen in the role of Jyoti Basu. There will also be characters of Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and Mamata Banerjee as well. Other actors like Ronit Roy, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Shaswat Chatterjee and many others can be seen in different characters in the series.
