Four times National Film Award winner Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan who currently works mostly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films is all set star in yet another Indian Bengali films titled ‘Putul Nacher Itikotha’ director by Suman Mukhopadhyay.

It is learnt that the film is based on popular novelist Manik Bandyopadhyay’s novel titled ‘Putul Nacher Itikatha’ (The Puppets’ Tale). The director of the film himself confirmed the news to the media and that the title of the movie will be the same as the novel.

Apart from actress Jaya Ahsan, Abir Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee will be seen in the lead roles and Dhritiman Chatterjee and Ananya Chatterjee will feature in the other two important characters of the film ‘Putul Nacher Itikotha’.

Regarding the context Suman Mukhopadhyay told the Indian media that two things were very important for this film — “skilled actors” and “big-budget”. Besides selecting good actors, the marketing aspect of the film has to be kept in mind now.  “Abir, Jaya, Param will be able to do that balance. Producer Sameeran Das (Kaleidoscope) relied on me for a budget. The shooting schedule of this film will be 25 days which is not seen in Bengali film now,” he said.

Prabuddha Banerjee is in charge of the playback music of the film. The film will be framed from the late 30s to the early 40s.

Director Suman Mukhopadhyay further said the time in the original novel was “more backward”, but we brought it a little further. Moreover, it is not possible to capture everything from the novel in the film. The movement of the two mediums is different. “I put more emphasis on characters chemistry,” he added.

Abir plays the role of ‘Shashi’ in the novel. Jaya will be seen in the role of ‘Kusum’. Parambrata is doing the character of ‘Kumud’. “Shashi’s part is getting more importance in his film,” director Suman said.

“In my opinion, Shashi is an impossibly strong character in Manikbabu’s creation,” Suman Mukhopadhyay said.
