Dhallywood four times National award winner actress Jaya Ahsan has been working successfully in Kolkata for several years, gained popularity and also won many awards in West Bengal. The actress has become quite regular in India's prestigious Filmfare Awards as well.
Earlier, Jaya has also received India's most popular Filmfare Award. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for 'Bishorjan' alongside Abir Chatterjee and Kaushik Ganguly directed by Kaushik Ganguly himself in 2017 and ‘Bijoya’ and 'Robibaar' in 2021 at the Joy Filmfare Awards (Bangla).
Again, the actress has received two nominations for Best Actress and Best Actress (Critic) in two categories for one film titled ‘Binisutoy’ directed by Atanu Ghosh opposite Tollywood actor Ritwick Chakraborty. The film also features Chandrayee Ghosh, Samontak Dyuti Maitra along with them. Ritwick Chakraborty was also nominated for Best Actor for the movie.
Apart from Jaya Ahsan, no other actress was nominated in the two categories. As such, this star of Bangladesh is ahead. Along with her there are other actresses - Aparajita Auddy, Koel Mallick, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Rukmini Maitra, Arpita Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Daminee Benny Basu and Rituparna Sengupta in the nominees.
It is learnt that the Filmfare Bangla Award will be presented on Thursday March 17 in Kolkata. Jaya will also take part in it. She is currently staying in Jharkhand, India shooting for her new film titled ‘Kalantor’.
Besides Jaya three other Bangladeshi stars have been nominated for Filmfare Bangla Award. They are Mosharraf Karim in the Best Actor (Critics) category, Asif Iqbal in the Best Lyricist category and Mahtim Shakib in the Best Singer category.
