Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, has filed a complaint with the Mumbai police after stolen video clips of their upcoming film ‘Jawan‘ were shared on microblogging site Twitter in order to cause damage to the film and the production house.

Pradeep Nimani, Chief Financial Officer of Red Chillies Entertainment, filed an FIR with the Santacruz police station on Thursday.

As per the FIR, recently the production house discovered that the film’s video clips were leaked online by some Twitter handles. It stated in the FIR that the film has not been released in theatres yet. During the shooting of the film, people present at the spot were not allowed to use mobile phones in order to prevent the leak of shooting videos.

Despite this, someone allegedly stole the film’s videos and, without the company’s permission, uploaded them on social media, Nimani stated.

The complainant has identified five Twitter handles in the FIR and also shared details of the people who use these handles.

Red Chillies had approached the Delhi High Court and filed a commercial suit over the leak of the film’s videos, and managed to secure court’s direction to Twitter to pull down the leaked videos.

It also got details of the suspect Twitter handles from service providers and submitted them to the police for further investigation.

The complainant claims that, besides causing damage to the film, the accused person has also violated the copyright act. The police have filed a case under sections 379 of the Indian Penal Code and 43b of the Information Technology Act and further investigating the matter, an officer said.

In the past, clips of the film were leaked online on two occasions similarly.
