Adding another people-centric modern communication structure to the city’s communication network, the construction work of the flyover on the Jatrabari-Postagola road is going on in full swing, which will be connected to the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway. Aiming to ensure smooth plying of vehicles through minimizing traffic congestion and introducing separate service lanes for plying of engine-based and engineless vehicles, the authority concerned is set to complete the construction work within the stipulated time.

Under the flyover, the government is also upgrading the existing two-lane roads to a four-lane one at Jurain to facilitate comparatively hassle-free movement. According to the authority concerned, the flyover besides easing the traffic movement in the capital and around will reduce the occurrence of accidents to a large extent.

With the quick progress of construction of the much expected Padma Bridge, the work of the four-lane Dhaka-Mawa Expressway is advancing with an aim to complete the work in due time. Local and foreign engineers and workers are working round-the-clock to build this expressway and make it ready for plying of vehicles.

The pace of the construction works has been escalated with building of roads, bridges and culverts. Experts said if the construction works go on keeping up the current pace, the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway will be completely ready before the construction of the Padma Bridge and could be opened to vehicular movement.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the government proposed to build the expressway with the aim of improving the communication system of the country’s south-western region with the capital. In the expressway, there will be no traffic signals anywhere. So there would be no point on the highway to stop the vehicles, which will ensure their smooth and hassle-free movement.

For the movement of the local people, the four lane expressway will have two separate lanes on either side. This much important highway incorporating these two lanes will be a six-lane highway or the country’s first expressway.
