Jatiya Sramik League conference today

The conference of Bangladesh Jatiya Sramik League (BJSL), a national trade union body of the ruling Awami League, will be held in the capital today. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at Suhrawardy Uddyan at 11am.
Later, the new central committee nomination of the trade union body will be held at the council session at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium at 3pm.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded the BJSL, the largest labour organization in the country, on October 12 in 1969. More than 8,000 councilors along with equal number of delegates from 78 district organizations across the country along with the BJSL’s central committee leaders will join the conference.

Besides, a number of foreign guests including labour leaders, will participate in the programme. At the last conference of the BJSL on July 19 in 2012, labor leader Sukur Mahmud and Sirajul Islam were elected president and general secretary respectively of the body.
