Jason Momoa's DC Universe dream project comments and James Gunn's mystery post have fueled rumors that the Aquaman star is perhaps playing Lobo.

Jason Momoa's recent DC Universe comments and a cryptic post from James Gunn have fueled rumors that the Aquaman actor is perhaps playing Lobo. With the launch of DC Studios, Gunn and Peter Safran are officially the bosses for Warner Bros. Discovery's superhero properties as they will be focusing on leading TV, movie, and animation development. In a recent interview, Momoa, who has played Aquaman since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, suggested that the new DC management is making one of his dreams come true.

Not long after, Gunn opened up a new social media account with a Lobo tease. As a follow-up, ComicBook interviewed Momoa and directly asked him if there was any chance that the two situations were in any way connected. While Momoa wouldn't give a clear answer, he made it evident that Lobo has always been his favorite comic book character, sharing the following:

"Well, everyone knows I'm a comic book fan. The comic I collected the most, and I have every comic there is... you can do your research and find out what it is."

While Gunn hasn't made any follow-up statements, the ongoing theory is that Momoa is indeed somehow involved with the Lobo character, either for a TV show or a movie. However, the bigger question becomes whether or not he could actually play the iconic DC bounty hunter. Since Momoa is already playing Aquaman, a.k.a. one of the founding members of the Justice League, it's highly unlikely the DCU dream he has been talking about concerns Lobo. However, the great thing with Warner Bros. over the last few years is that they have begun launching separate continuities outside the DCU, as seen with The Batman and Joker franchises.
