A youth was killed in a road accident in front of Jamtola Eidgah Maidan on Navaron-Satkhira highway under Sharsha upazila in the district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Pintu Molla, 20, son of Ansar Molla resident of Bagachra-Satmail area of the upazila.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Navaron Highway Police Station Amirul Islam said, an Auto-rickshaw was going to Baganchra on Saturday night, a Jashore-bound truck hit the Auto-rickshaw and ran away.
Auto-rickshaw passenger Pintu Molla fell on the road. He died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
The Auto-rickshaw driver was also injured. The body was recovered from the spot and sent to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police try to seize truck and to arrest the driver , SI said. A case was filed in this connection.
