Jashore lawyers demand closure of virtual court

Lawyers in Jashore formed a human chain in front of the Jashore District and Sessions Judge Court building on Monday, demanding closure of the virtual court and the resumption of normal court proceedings.

Advocate MA Gafur, GS of the District Lawyers' Association, said the court had been closed for the past three months due to the coronavirus outbreak. 

Although the Virtual Court has started functioning under the direction of the Supreme Court, it is difficult to manage due to various problems including logistical support. 

As a result, people are being deprived of justice. Even their human rights to be released on bail are being violated. 

In this situation, the leaders demanded the resumption of the normal functioning of the court by declaring the closure of the virtual court to restore justice and human rights.

Advocate MA Gafur, announ ced that if the normal funct ioning of the court is not  resumed by July 1, the lawyers  will be forced to stage a serious steps including boycott of  the court.
