People who have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus have blocked road in Benapole of Jashore after not receiving relief.  They blocked the Jashore-Dhaka Highway for about two hours at Bahadurpur bazaar of the township on Tuesday. Later, they lifted the blockade on the assurance of magistrates, Army and police officers.

Protesters complain they have not yet received government food aid. There is no food in their houses and the children are starving. No one, including local people's representatives, have offered help.

Upon receiving the news, Revenue Deputy Collector (RDC) KM Abu, appeared at the spot and calmed down the protesters. Protesters lifted the roadblock after he promised food aid as soon as possible.

RDC KM Abu said their names and addresses have been collected and if anyone else is left, they have been asked to list their names and send them to the Sharsha upazila. Arrangements will be made to deliver relief to their homes quickly.
