An honours second year student, 19, of the department of accounting of Jashore Government MM College died after cesarean operation being allegedly raped by her lover. She died due to misconception of her two-month baby, said Kajol Mallik, medical officer of Jashore General Hospital.
The baby was not in right position for which she needed operation, the physician added.
Police arrested a youth in connection a after a case was filed with Kotwali police station, said Samir Kumar Sarker, officer in-charge, investigation, Kotwali police station.
The student’s father Asaduzaman Asad told newsmen that his daughter died due to bleeding as she had given medicine of abortion by her lover Syed Shamim of S- Block, New Town under Kotwali police station.
Shamim raped her first on May 3 and then continued it for several times, the deceased’s father stated in his case statement filed with Kotwali police station accusing Shamim and his younger brothers Nasim and Naim.
The victim felt sick on July 12 but she did not disclose anything to her parents. She was rushed to Queens Hospital as she became seriously ill on July 17, the case statement added, ‘she was diagnosed as two-month pregnant there’.
The statement also stated that her cesarean operation was made at around 12 midnight on Thursday at Ibn Sina Hospital and died there at around 4:30am.
Her post mortem examination was made at Jashore General Hospital on Friday afternoon.
