The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) has announced its application dates for 2025, offering a great opportunity for students from developing countries to pursue master's degrees abroad. The program targets professionals with relevant experience and a strong commitment to their country's development.
Applications for Window 1 will be open from January 13 to February 28, 2025, while Window 2 will run from March 25 to May 23, 2025. However, only those admitted unconditionally to one of the 41 participating master’s programs in 24 universities worldwide will be eligible to apply.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance. Participating programs focus on key development areas like economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.
To apply, candidates must be nationals of a World Bank member developing country, hold a bachelor’s degree earned at least three years before the application deadline, and have at least three years of paid development-related work experience. Applicants also need to be employed in a full-time, development-related position at the time of application.
The selection process involves two independent assessors scoring applications based on professional experience, recommendations, commitment to the applicant’s home country, and academic background. The program also considers geographic and gender balance, financial need, and personal hardships.
Winners will be selected after final approval from the JJ/WBGSP Steering Committee and will commit to returning to their home countries after completing their degrees to support national development.
This scholarship provides an important chance for skilled professionals to gain global education and bring valuable knowledge back home. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the universities offering JJ/WBGSP participating master’s programs to confirm eligibility.
