For the first time Japanese government is helping Bangladesh to precisely monitor and track the movements of the super cyclonic storm Fani. The category – 5 hurricane, termed ‘super cyclonic storm,’ is now being monitored constantly making cyclone predictions more convenient. All data regarding the storm is readily available.

With the help of modern satellite technology Bangladesh meteorology department is able to receive hourly reports and satellite images of the cyclone and hence track exactly its location, speed, severity and other technical details. Bangladesh despite positioned in a cyclone prone region in the tropical area, never benefitted from such technology before. It is an added help in storm prediction for the future as well.

“The near-accurate weather reports are greatly helping us to plan and mobilise resources accordingly. Based on the reports we are receiving from the Japan Meteorological Agency, we are preparing our disaster preparedness plans,” State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman told Bangladesh Post yesterday.
