Japan envoy lauds Sheikh Hasina’s leadership

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh ITO Naoki has said that if the present trend of development of Bangladesh continues, the country will be a developed one much before 2041.

The ambassador made this remark when he paid a courtesy call on Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque at his ministry on Sunday.

"Bangladesh has attained a tremendous progress under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. If this trend continues, Bangladesh would be a developed country much before its target of 2041," the ambassador added. 

Extending applause on behalf of Japan on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh and birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ito Naoki hoped that the existing bilateral relations between the two countries would get a different dimension making the completion of 50 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Japan in 2022.

AKM Mozammel Haque recalled the contributions of Japan for the reconstruction of Bangladesh after the Liberation War and said Japan gave recognition to newly liberated Bangladesh in 1972 and established embassy in Dhaka.

Japan has contributions to many big development projects of Bangladesh, he said, adding that the relations between the two countries are established on a solid ground and it would continue to get stronger in the days ahead.

Liberation War Affairs Ministry Secretary Tapan Kanthi Ghosh and Jatiya Muktijodha Council Director General Md Zahurul Islam Rohel were present on the occasion.
