Janmashtami celebrated in Thakurgaon

Amid several arrangements, the 5250th Janmashtami of Sri Krishna was celebrated in Thakurgaon district on Monday. A discussion was held and a cheerful procession was brought out on this occasion.

The procession, arranged by the Janmashtami Celebration Committee, was brought out from Gobinda Jiu Temple of Mondirpara area under the municipality town on Monday noon. The procession paraded through the main road of the town and ended at the same place.

Later, a discussion was held at Gobinda Jiou Temple. President of Gobinda Jiu Temple Advocate Shekhar Kumar Roy presided over the discussion. Deputy Commissioner of Thakurgaon district, Md Mahbubur Rahman, spoke as the chief guest at that time. Thakurgaon Superintendent of Police Uttam Prashad Pathak spoke as the special guest at the meeting.

Besides, Ramakrishna Sevashrama president Basudeb Byanarji, Pooja Celebration Council district unit general secretary Topon Kumar Ghosh, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Kalyan Front Thakurgaon district unit president Monoranjan Singh, general secretary Satyajit Kumar Kunda, general secretary of District Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad Prabir Gupta Bua, general secretary of District Hindu Mohajot of Thakurgaon Arun Komar Roy, president of district Jubo Mohajot Joy Mohanta Alok and others were present at that time.

At the discussion, they urged everyone to maintain religious harmony and peace.

The programme was concluded with distributing Prasad among the devotees after the discussion. Men and women of the Hindu community of the district attended the programme.
