National football team’s head coach Jamie Day arrived in Dhaka on Thursday from the United Kingdom (UK) after completing vacation for over a month.

The English born Bangladesh coach left Doha for his country UK on December 4 last year, after the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier match against host Qatar.

After arriving in Dhaka, Jamie Day through a video message said, “Now I’ll have to stay in the hotel for fourteen days in quarantine. Then I will go to the stadium and watch the league match. I will start the national team camp in February. We have three World Cup qualifiers left. We’ll have to prepare for that.”

The first round of the Bangladesh Premier League will end on January 18, but Jamie will watch the league matches from the third round.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation on Wednesday refused Oman and Qatar’s offers to play their next three FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup joint qualifiers return-leg matches at a central venue.

‘I have said I don’t want to play in Oman as we lose all home advantage so it’s the worst possible solution for us as we lose all of our home games meaning 5 out of 6 games we played away in the group,’ said Day.

‘It will be Interesting because the others will want to play in Oman and not travel to Bangladesh,’ Day added.
