Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club is going to bring a huge change at the mid-window of the Bangladesh Premier League football with replacing the head coach and three foreign booters.
Joseph Afusi is going to join Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club today when the Nigerian will replace the Spanish coach Juan Manuel Saez.
Besides the coach, Sheikh Jamal Club also are going to replace three foreign booters, the Gambian duo Solomon Kings and Sulaymane Sillah and the Nigerian forward Chenedu Mathew and will recruit three Nigerian in those positions.
One of the team’s high ups, on condition not mentioning his name informed the Bangladesh post on Sunday that the team official decided to bring back Afusi again appointing him as head coach replacing the Spanish coach Juan Manuel.
The official told that they have a meeting today noon and will disclose all about the coach and players recruitments. Joseph Afusi has some pleasing moments as a player and as a coach of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Afusi, who came here in Bangladesh as a player of Sheikh Jamal in 2011-12 season, turned into coach of the club at the end of the season.
Afusi served Jamal as a player in 2011-2012 season. Then he went to Goa in India as the coach of Churchill Brothers SC.
In his absence, Sheikh Jamal appointed coach Maruful Haque on the post and under Maruful, Sk Jamal finished champion in the B-League, became champions of Bhutan Kings Cup-2014 and runner-up of IFA Shield-2014.
Afusi became the coach of the team at the end of the season replacing local coach Abu Yusuf and continued up to 2014 and returned in 2015 and went England to complete a coaching course in England.
The Nigerian again recruited as head coach of the team in 2017 and 2018. But could not complete the 2018 season as he was sacked at the midway of the league and again took the charge at the end of the league in 2018.
However, Sheikh Jamal again appointed him as a coach at the midway of this season (2021-22) and expected to join the team from today and will begin the field work from tomorrow, as the official of the Jamal informed.
