Jamal Bhuiyan, the regular captain of the Bangladesh national football team, is facing registration complications in the ongoing domestic football season. Despite completing formalities with Dhaka Abahani, the club did not submit his name to the federation. Subsequently, he joined Brothers Union (BU), but the timing prevented his registration there as well.
Jamal was expected to play for Dhaka Abahani this season. However, the club faced various crises, including a reduction in the agreed amount of money for players. Due to these changes, Abahani did not agree to the amount offered to Jamal, and it was too late for him to join another club.
Jamal has lodged a complaint with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) regarding Abahani's actions. Despite applying over a month ago, the BFF's Player Status Committee has yet to make a decision. Frustrated, Jamal, currently in Denmark, expressed his impatience, stating that if the BFF does not resolve his issue soon, he will be forced to approach AFC-FIFA.
Brothers Union is supporting Jamal during this difficult time. However, it is uncertain if he will play in the first leg of the league due to the late registration. Brothers' manager Amer Khan highlighted the importance of the Football Federation for both footballers and clubs, noting that the season is about to start and Jamal's situation remains unresolved.
Jamal, currently in Europe for personal reasons, remains focused on Bangladeshi football, expressing his desire to play and his disbelief at the current situation.
Former footballer Amer Khan, a former member of BFF's executive committee, criticised the delay in the BFF's decision-making process. He pointed out that if a high-profile player like Jamal faces such delays, ordinary footballers must suffer even more.
A letter signed by Jamal on October 20 indicates that he first applied on September 15, meaning nearly two months have passed without a decision. The BFF Player Status Committee, an independent and impartial body, has not resolved the issue. The Competition Department, which coordinates with the Player Status, Disciplinary, and Appeal committees, is often blamed for delays in decision-making.
