Jamal Bhuiyan tests positive for Covid in Doha

Bangladesh national football team skipper Jamal Bhuiyan tested positive for coronavirus. He is currently in Doha. 

A reliable BFF source confirmed this matter on Saturday. At the moment, Jamal is in isolation under the auspices of the Qatar Football Association.

“Jamal had a slight temperature when the team left for Dhaka from Doha. He stayed back and subsequently tested positive for coronavirus. He is now under observation of Qatar FA and is in isolation at a hotel,” informed Abu Nayeem Shohag, the general secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

The midfielder showed slight temperature when the team left for Dhaka on December 5. Bangladesh played against Qatar in Doha in the second round match of the 2022 World Cup and the preliminary round of the Asian selection for the 2023 Asian Cup. Jamie Day’s team lost that match 5-0. 

Then Jamal Bhuyan was supposed to play for Kolkata Mohammedan in the Indian I-League. But before that the news of the country's best midfielder being corona positive broke. His chances to play at the Indian I-League fell into uncertainty. Jamal, who signed for Kolkata Mohammedan, was supposed to go to India for the upcoming I League, scheduled to begin from January 9 next year. 

Jamal Bhuyan was supposed to return from Qatar to Kolkata in West Bengal. Jamal, who signed for Kolkata Mohammedan, was supposed to go to India for the upcoming I League, scheduled to begin from January 9 next year.  Although other players and staff returned from Qatar, Jamal wanted to return a few days later for personal reasons. But in Qatar, his corona sample test came positive.
