Bangladesh national football team’s captain Jamal Bhuiyan is expecting to join the camp from Thursday when he is due to land Dhaka from Argentina tomorrow

Meanwhile, the national team camp and the practice sessions have already been going on full swing from early of the last week (August 20).

The national team, ahead of the two FIFA friendly matches against Afghanistan to take place on September 4 and 7, began the camp without the captain Jamal Bhuiyan.

Jamal Bhuiyan went Argentina to play local league (Third Division) and the Torreno Federal ‘A’ League for Sol De Mayo club.

Jamal has already made an impressive debut in the Argentine League for Sol De Mayo with scoring a goal as his team won by 2-1 against Germinal, however, the Bangladesh captain has already left Argentina on Sunday to join the team.

Hassan Al Mamun, the deputy of the national team head coach Javier Cabrera informed the Bangladesh Post on Monday that Jamal is expected to land Dhaka on Tuesday and will begin full pledged practice from September 1. Mamun, the former national captain when heading to the practice ground with the team at the Bashundhara Kings Arena and talking to this correspondent on Monday, said, “Hopefully Jamal will reach Dhaka tomorrow.”

“He will have to travel thousands of miles from Argentina to Bangladesh, so it will take a little time to get rid of the jet-leg, hopefully he will join in the practice session full pledged from Friday,” Mamun replied to a query.

Mamun replying to a another query said that they have a long term plan with the team, as their main target is the World Cup 2026 qualifying matches in October when the FIFA  friendly matches against Afghanistan is part preparation of that competition.

“The squad now we have, a blend of young and experienced players, but most of them are young and even some of the booters have their call in the national camp for the first time, I can name like, forwards Dipok Roy and Sawar Zaman Nipu.”

Mamun also informed that they formed the 32-man squad retaining all the performers of the last SAFF championship was held in Bengaluru where Bangladesh moved into the semifinal after impressive performances.

“We formed the squad keeping all the players of the last SAFF where at least 20 players had the opportunity to play,” Mamun said.
