Jaipur University accords reception to Shikhor

The University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, Rajasthan has accorded reception to young Awami League leader and parliamentarian Shaifuzzaman Shikhor on Wednesday, reports BSS.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Satyajit Chakrabarti handed over a crest, “uttorio” and a letter to Shikhor, the young parliament member, at a simple ceremony on the university campus yesterday morning. Academics and students of UEM, among others, were present. The ceremony was followed by a spectacular cultural event in honour of the Bangladeshi parliament member in which students of the varsity participated. Earlier, the vice-chancellor and senior faculty members of the varsity received Shikhor on the campus and gave a presentation on the overall activities of the university before him.

UEM, Jaipur has achieved the awards of the “Best Private University and the Best Emerging University” in North India. Later in a brief speech, Shikhor expressed his gratitude to the university authorities for honouring him by according him a reception and also mentioned the historic relations exist between the two friendly countries.

He said Bangladesh has become a role model of development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under her dynamic leadership, Bangladesh has achieved tremendous successes in various sectors of development, he added. Shikhor recalled the contribution of India during the Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971 and paid glowing tributes to those Indian nationals, who laid their lives for the cause of an independent Bangladesh.

He urged the students of the varsity to engage themselves to work for the betterment of the down trodden masses along with their academic activities.
