Jaintiapur man succumbs to injuries sustained during clash

A 60-year old man, who was seriously injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Chhatarkhai village under Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Sylhet on Thursday evening (June 10).

The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Haque, son of late Fatir Ali of the village. He succumbed to his injuries at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital at about 8:00 pm on Thursday.  The postmortem of Rafiqul Haque was carried out at the hospital on Friday. Later, he was buried his village following Namaz-e-Janaza held after Asr prayers on the premises of Chhatarkhai Eidgah on Friday (June 11). 

Foyez Ahmed, former president of Jaintiapur Press Club, told the Bangladesh Post that the clash took place between two groups of villagers over land dispute in the early morning on May 28. 

Some 6-7 people were injured in the clash. Rafiqul Haque was also injured in the clash following the indiscriminate attack of his rival Shukkur, son of Hazir Ali of the village, and some others. During the clash, the 60-year old man suffered head injury and he was taken to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where died after 14 days.
