Jahidul Islam gets Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award 2023

Daily Sun Journalist Md. Jahidul Islma has received the Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award 2023 for special contribution to journalism.

Former Information Secretary Syed Margub Morshed, also grandson of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Hoque, handed over the award to Md. Jahidul Islam at a programme held at hotel in the capital on Saturday.  

Sher-e-Bangla Sangskrittik Jote organised the award ceremony to mark the 151th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Hoque.  

About the award, Jahid said, “I’m very happy and feel honoured after receiving the award. I’m grateful to Sher-e-Bangla Sangskrittik Jote for this honour paid to me. Please keep me in your prayers.”   Hailed from Jashore, Md. Jahidul Islam started his journalistic carrier with Doinik Samachar (a Bengali daily) in 2010 when he was a student of Dhaka University. Then, he joined ‘The Bangladesh Today’ (A English daily) as Dhaka University reporter. He is currently working as a sub-editor at the Daily Sun, one of the leading English daily newspapers of Bangladesh.      In his carrier, Md. Jahidul Islam has received a number of awards including Bangladesh-Bharat (India)-Singapore (BaBhaSi) International Film Award for his contritution to the journalism. 

Jahidul Islam currently served as the International Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Cultural Reporters’ Association (BCRA) and Greater Jashore Journalists’ Forum Dhaka’s joint secretary.
