In a dominant display at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, the defending Champions Comilla Victorians demolished Chattogram Challengers by 73 runs in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T-20 on Tuesday.
Chattogram Challengers were bundled out at 166 from 16.3 overs.
An explosive performance, driven by century-old right-hand batters William George Jacks and Skipper Litton Das half century propelled the Comilla Victorians to an imposing total of 239/3, their first 200-plus total against any other team in 20 overs.
Lower-order batter Moeen Ali scored 53 of 24 balls, giving the defending champions a mammoth total.
Litton Das and Will Jacks added 86 runs off 47 balls in their first-inning partnership. Chattogram bowlers lost their trend to Williams and Litton Das.
Chattogram Challengers Right arm Medium pacer Shohidul Islam broke the Comilla Victorians opening partnership. Litton was caught by Campher. He made 60 runs off 31 balls with nine fours and three over the boundary.
William batted like a storm; he reached 100 runs off 50 balls with three boundaries and six sixes at the moment. He scored an unbeaten 108 runs off 53 balls.
Shohidul Islam claimed two wickets, conceding 49 runs, and his fellow Shykat Ali bagged one wicket at the cost of 23 runs.
Meanwhile, the Challengers' chase began from the outset as left-hand batter Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 41 runs off 24 balls. Tamim fell cheaply to Mustafizur Rahman, caught by Jacks. He hit five fours and two sixes.
Five batters of Chattogram Challengers could not reach double figures. Josh Brown and middle-order batter Shykat Ali both scored 36 runs, conceding 23 and 11 balls, respectively.
Right arm off-break bowler Moeen Ali and Legbreak Googly Rishad Hossain took four wickets each at the cost of 23 and 22 runs, respectively. This win has cemented Comilla Victorians place at the top of the points table. They have now amassed 12 points from six wins in eight matches. In contrast, Chattogram is still among the top three teams. They have 10 points from five wins and four defeats in nine.
