Jabbar for using digital agricultural tech

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has urged all concerned of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) to take strong initiatives in the use of digital agricultural technology along with research.

"Bangladesh Agricultural University should take strong initiatives so that it could use digital agricultural technology along with research. Technologies of digital age such as robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain should also be widely used in agriculture," he said.

The minister was speaking at a virtual discussion meeting organized by BAU on Thursday as the chief guest as BAU got position between one thousand to one thousand two hundred in the list of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, a press release said here today.

Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking Bangladesh forward following the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said Bangabandhu used to think of farmers, workers and hardworking people and gave them dignity.

Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina is alsofollowing that path, he added. With BAU's  Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Director Prof Md Taj Uddin in the chair, the programme was attended ,among others, by BAU Vice-Chancellor Lutful Hassan, University Grants Commission (UGC) member Abu Taher and former student politician and journalist Subhash Singha Roy.
