‘IU VC desperate to probe Mahbub as innocent’

Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, vice chancellor of Islamic University (IU) in Kusthia, is desperate to probe former proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman as innocent, claimed Bangladesh Chhatra League unit leaders of the university.

The BCL leaders made the claim at a press conference at Press Corner on the campus on Wednesday afternoon.

The BCL leaders claimed that Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department is notorious as confidant of the vice chancellor and he committed various crime including recruitment scam for teachers recruitment board, set former BCL committee of the unit in exchange  of huge money, threaten its student by officers.

Dr Mahbub got quitclaim only maintaining good relationship with the vice chancellor while the BCL leaders of the university complaint against him for several times but the authority don’t take any action against him.

BCL leaders and activists were facing security problems form Dr Mahbub while the leaders confirmed in the conference. If any BCL leaders and activists hampered further, IU VC have to take all the responsibility for these, said the BCL leaders.

Besides, a group of teachers from progressive teachers alliance Shapla Forum demanded punishment of the BCL men who burnt the effigy of Dr Mahbub.

On contacted, IU VC Dr Rashid Askari denied the matter and said that, ‘why only Mahbubar Rahmanr, I have no personal interest, revolt or aversion of any teacher of the university’.

‘So the charge against me is totally unfounded and fake, he added’Mentioned, the rebel leaders and activists of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) burnt effigy of former proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of the university for his Alleged Involvement with recruitment scam and found his connection with Shibir activities in his student life.
