A parliamentary debate competition titled ‘July-August Student Uprising: Expectations and Achievements’ was held at Islamic University (IU), organised by the Public Administration Debating Society (PADS).

The event took place on Wednesday at 12:50 PM in Room 204 of the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Academic Building.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah inaugurated the event as chief guest. In his speech, he said debate opens the door to critical thinking and fosters creativity. "Allah has sent each of us into this world with some form of creativity.

To nurture it, we must practise it. Presenting logic is an art form," he said.

He added that while argument can cause division, logic is inherently tied to creativity, urging students to sharpen their reasoning skills.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M. Ayub Ali attended as special guest, while Professor Dr A.K.M. Matinur Rahman acted as Speaker.

Judges included Dean of Arts Faculty Professor Dr Md. Emtaz Hossain, Chairman of Public Administration Department Professor Dr Md. Fakhrul Islam, along with Professors Dr Tozammel Hossain, Mohammad Selim, Dr Mohammad Asaduzzaman, and Dr Md. Lutfur Rahman.
