The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia appointed Professor Dr M Maher Ali as the new chairman of English department of the university, an IU press release confirmed on Saturday.
IU vice chancellor Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam appointed him to the post for the next three years while Dr Maher replaced Professor Dr Mossammad Salma Sultana of the department.
The newly appointed chairman took charge in a function at his office at Rabindra-Nazrul Arts building on the campus. Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, president of IU Shapla Forum and its secretary Prof Dr Mamunur Rahman, attended at the function.
