It has been a rollercoaster ride! Starting from the passing of the plan in 2008 to the start of construction in 2014 and the placement of the final span in December 2020, there have been many obstacles, but finally, the full frame of the dream bridge is now visible. It needs no mentioning that Padma Bridge will bring forth great economic benefit for the south western region of the country.

According to a report published in this daily, the main work of the Padma Bridge is now complete and now it is only a matter of time before thousands of vehicles ply the bridge and express way every day. This great accomplishment has been achieved defying all odds at last with own funds under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

After World Bank cut off their promised amount for the bridge then, the bridge has come so far with the national spirit of the entire nation that binds its people together in any adversity. This bridge highlights the spirit of freedom and that no dream is too big to achieve. The mass support has given us a tremendous strength in completing the bridge which has become a symbol of resilience and unity that the Bangalee nation has.

On the other hand, many backwater regions of the country will be benefitted by the added connectivity. Moreover, nearly 70,000 people have been rehabilitated. Not only this, the land price has also increased exponentially. And, industrialists have taken an interest in investing in the region to further enhance the living standards of the locals.

We can only advance towards a better future from now on and hence forth we shall only step forward for development and prosperity.
