Information and Broadcasting Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said, 'It is normal that the law and order forces will search the BNP office in where fresh bombs were found. The law and order forces have to see whether there are grenades along with the bomb or whether they have hidden any lethal weapon in their office.

He said all this in response to the questions of the journalists after the unveiling ceremony of three books in the conference room of the Information Directorate at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "The way the BNP leaders are presenting the search by showing the broken mirror of Ziaur Rahman's photo is actually due to the big 'flop' of their rally on December 10. They could do nothing compared to the clamor with which they called for a rally on December 10. They barely gathered 50,000 people despite promising to gather 1 million people, that too in the ground of a cattle market. That's why they are now trying to present various types of complaints to protect their face.

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting said, ‘Calling the mass march of BNP on December 24 is a disaster’ and said, first of all, the conference of Bangladesh Awami League on December 24. Calling such a mass rally on that day is a disaster. Simultaneous movement, joint movement - they call these at different times. They have made these calls at various times over the past 14 years. But the people did not respond to their call. He said it will be the same as usual this time too.

Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said in response to journalists' questions about the low interest rate on deposits kept by people in various banks in our country amid global inflation, "The interest rate on deposits in European banks is 1%. Inflation is 10% in some countries and 70% in Turkey. Then the bank's interest rate should be 10% or 20%, but it is not! Comparing bank deposit interest rates with inflation is misleading to people. I think it is not appropriate.'

Prior to this, Dr Hasan Mahmud unveiled three books including 'Dirozio: Life and Work', a book based on the life of 18th century Bengali writer Derozio of Portuguese origin, born in Calcutta, written by Saktisadhan Mukhopadhyay. Chief Information Officer Shahenur Mia, writer Motahar Hossain and senior officials participated in the unveiling.

At this time, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, books keep people alive because we will all leave the world one day, we don't know who will leave when. Birth may have serial but death has no serial. But those who write books live for ages.
