We express deep sorrow over the death of common people and children in Palestine due to the latest conflict between Israel and Gaza.
We also call upon the global leaders to work in unison for peace, welfare of mankind and prosperity by shunning the path of war and confrontation. Bangladesh is respectful towards sovereignty and regional integrity according to the objectives and principles of the United Nations.
Bangladesh also emerged from war, war does not bring any good for any side, the country believes in the principle of peace. We believe that living under the Israeli occupation and forced settlements in the Palestinian territory would not bring peace in the region.
When the world has been going through a global crisis and economic recession caused by Russia-Ukraine war and Covid-19 pandemic, the latest conflict between Israel and Gaza will be deepening crisis further. According to a study, over 800 million people go to bed hungry globally, which are getting worsened due to the Russia-Ukraine war. So, the conflict between Israel and Gaza starts adding salts into the wounds.
In Gaza, officials reported more than 1,000 people have been killed in Israel’s sustained campaign of air and artillery strikes while Israeli forces said 1,200 people, most of them civilians, were killed in the onslaught, according to international media reports. More than 338,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations says, as heavy Israeli bombardments continue to hit the Palestinian enclave.
Escalation of conflicts and
violence benefit
no party
Israel has imposed what it called a ‘complete siege’ on the already blockaded Gaza Strip, cutting off food, water, fuel and electricity, a move that has worsened an already dire humanitarian situation. Meeting basic needs is becoming increasingly challenging for those who have not been displaced.
We strongly denounce the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and deplore the resultant loss of innocent civilian lives and injuries to victims. All should keep in mind that escalation of conflicts and violence benefit no party.
Bangladesh supports a two-state solution, Palestine and Israel, living side by side as independent states free of occupation following the UN Resolution Nos. 242 and 338, which can bring lasting peace and stability in the region. Both Israeli and Palestinians must exercise maximum restraint and stop the war immediately to avoid further loss of innocent lives on both sides.
Our appeal today is to the world leaders to shun the path of war and confrontation, and to work collectively for enduring peace, welfare for humankind and economic prosperity for the people of our planet and future generations. All parties concerned have to refrain from excessive and indiscriminate use of force in the conflict and reiterated that only dialogue and diplomacy could lead to a lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
We are calling for finding a way to stop the Israel-Gaza conflict through negotiations and a peaceful manner as early as possible.
