A delegation comprising leaders from different Islamic political parties of Bangladesh, including Jamaat-e-Islami, left Dhaka for China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The delegation left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for China in night. Members from four Islamic parties are included in the delegation. The Islamic parties’ leaders are visiting China at invitation of that country’s ruling party for the first time.
The 14-member team is led by Jamaat-e-Islami’s central Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
This marks the first instance in which leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami or any Islamic party have received an official invitation from the CPC.
The delegation includes Jamaat Assistant Secretary Generals Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Ehsanul Mahbub Zobair and Moazzem Hossain Helal, Central Executive Committee member and Publicity Secretary Advocate Matiur Rahman
Akand. Other members include Dhaka South City Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islamci Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka North City Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, and Daily Sangram Chief Reporter Shamsul Arefin. Islami Chhatra Shibir's Central Secretary General Jahidul Islam also joined the delegation alongside leaders from other Islamic parties, including Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan's Ameer Abu Zafar Qasemi, Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Qader, Bangladesh Nezam-e-Islam Party Secretary General Musa bin Izhar, and Hefazat-e-Islam's Organising Secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi.
The delegation is expected to return to Bangladesh on December 5.
This follows a recent visit by a delegation from the BNP, led by Vice Chairman Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, who travelled to China at the CPC's invitation. The four-member BNP team returned to Bangladesh on November 16.
