Professor Mohammad Abdur Rashid, a teacher of the Islamic studies department at Dhaka University, joined as vice-chancellor at the Islamic Arabic University in Dhaka on Thursday, said a press release.
Teachers, officers and employees of the Islamic Arabic University welcomed the newly appointed VC with flowers. They also organised a reception for the prominent Islamic thinker.
The university’s pro-vice-chancellor professor Muhammad Abul Kalam Azad and treasurer SM Ehsan Kabir were present at the programme.
After joining the event, the newly appointed VC along with others placed a wreath at the portrait of Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka.
