Ishwardi UNO opens tree plantation programme

On the occasion of the National Mourning Day, a tree plantation programme was inaugurated on the land around the new houses built under the government's shelter project at Ramchandra Baharpur of Muladuli Union in Pabna's Ishwardi Upazila. The tree plantation programme was organized by the office of Ishwardi Upazila Administration and Women's Affairs Officer.

Ishwardi UNO PM Imrul Kayes inaugurated the treeplantation programme at the Ashrayan project area in Ramchandra Baharpur on Thursday. Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Shahina Sultana, Project Implementation Officer Touhidul Islam, ICT Officer Masud Rana and others were present at the time.

Project Implementation Officer Touhidul Islam said, " Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving land to the landless and helpless people and building new houses. It is undoubtedly a humanitarian work. Therefore, on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day, a tree plantation programme has been started by the Ishwardi Upazila Administration for green forestry in the Asrayan project area.”

50 mango saplings were planted on Wednesday. More saplings of other trees will be planted in phases, he added.
