Ishwardi municipality announces budget for 2020-21 fiscal year

Ishwardi first class municipality has announced a budget of Tk 268 crore 19 lakh 65 thousand 115. The budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 was announced by the chief accounting officer of the municipality, Taibur Rahman, at an open budget meeting in the municipality hall room on Thursday afternoon. 

It was presided over by Ishwardi Municipal Awami League President and Municipal Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu.

People of different classes and professions of the municipality were present during the budget session. In the new budget, income and expenditure have been kept equal. Earlier, Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu gave a welcome address. 

Referring to various problems of the municipality, the mayor said that despite various obstacles, desperate efforts are being made to provide civic services.

“It was my election promise to build a children’s park, a public library and a stadium," he said. I couldn't do it yet. However, a children's park would be built in Ishwardi to entertain the children. He sought the cooperation of Ishwardi citizens for this.

Among the dignitaries present at the time were journalists Mostaq Ahmed Kiran, Swapan Kumar Kundu, SM Raja and others. Selim Sardar, President of Bangladesh Teachers Association Ishwardi Upazila Committee Jamshed Ali, Ward 5 Awami League President Nuru gave speeches.

Municipal Secretary Md. Zahurul Islam, Executive Engineer Abdul Awal, Assistant Engineer Mostafizur Rahman Anjan, Panel Mayor Saeed Hasan Shimul, Councilor Abul Hashem, Ilias Hossain Khan Elbas, Yusuf Ali Pradhan, Aminur Rahman Swapan, Kamal Hossain, Kamal Ashrafi, Firoza Begum, Farida Yasmin, Rahima Khatun and other officials and employees of the municipality were present.

According to the meeting sources, the proposed budget for the last financial year was 105 crore 42 lakh 27 thousand 769 taka. Later it was revised to 78 crore 58 lakh 55 thousand 386 taka. From this 74.54 percent was implemented.
