Ishwardi upazila of Pabna is in the forefront of modernization and development. Work is underway to set up the country's largest mega project nuclear power plant in the area. It is being built at Rooppur in Ishwardi upazila. Modern shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, motels, parks and recreation centers are being set up in different areas of the upazila under this project. Like the developed countries, the roads in the area are being modernized in a rapid pace.
The 100-year-old Ishwardi has the country's largest railway junction station, Asia's longest railway bridge Hardinge Bridge, Lalonshah Bridge, Ishwardi EPZ, Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute, Pulses Research Center, Silk Seed Garden and various government and non-government institutions.
A residential building complex 'Green City' has been constructed to accommodate foreigners and project related officials and employees working on the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project under construction. The town of Ishwardi is being illuminated by the light surrounding these buildings. Where once black darkness used to descend, today the glittering scene of light is now visible. The city of Ishwardi and its surroundings are changing around this beautiful modern green city.
The roads of the upazila are also being renovated and built like the developed world. In the meantime, widening work has started from Sanra Union Bazaar to Alhajj junction via Airport Road town rail gate. The station road has been widened. Other roads are also being repaired.
Traffic police activities are being intensified at various important corners of the road. The work of enhancing the beauty of the roundabouts and corners is also going on. The Dashuria traffic junction at the entrance of Ishwardi has been developed as a modern road junction. Here a mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been erected and built with the fragrance of flowers.
Jalal Uddin Tuhin, finance secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Central Committee, a prominent industrialist of Ishwardi, said the country's largest mega project, Rooppur Nuclear Power Project, is being constructed at Rooppur in Ishwardi. This project has introduced Bangladesh to the whole world. And this is possible because of the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh is on the list of developing countries today. Under his leadership, Bangladesh will soon gain the status of a developed country.
