Srijit Mukherji, one of the most eligible bachelors in Tollywood, seems to be in a happy space with girlfriend Rafiath Rashid Mithila. The singer, model, actor and development worker was in Kolkata on the occasion of Eid and made it to a private party, which the director hosted for the National Film Award win of Ek Je Chhilo Raja. The film was adjudged the Best Bengali Film at the 66th National Film Awards and also received commercial success upon its release last Puja. Srijit first introduced Mithila to his friends at a party held at a star property on Rajarhat in March this year. He started dating the actor a few months before that.
Mithila, who began her modelling career in 2002, did her masters in political science from the University of Dhaka and completed her second masters in early childhood development. A theatre artiste and painter, she is known for her work in Bangladeshi television and has a considerable body of work in child development.
Mithila was in Kolkata to shoot for a music video when Srijit first met her. It was made by his production house. The song was by popular Bangladeshi singer Arnob. Mithila is Arnob’s cousin and curiously, the latter’s former wife, Sahana Bajpaie, too happens to be a good friend of the director.
They connected on Facebook and stayed in touch. Mithila also hosted a get-together for Srijit’s friends at his south Kolkata residence recently. Though speculation is rife if the two are all set to exchange vows, the director has maintained that it is not happening this year. Mithila too has denied marriage rumours time and again. On the work front, Srijit is busy planning the release of Gumnaami. After that, he will begin shooting Dwitiyo Purush, sequel to his successful psychological thriller, Baishe Srabon.
