Discrepancies have emerged in the admission process of the Professional Masters in Japanese Studies (PMJS) at Dhaka University. Out of 26 students who appeared for the entrance exam, 27 were declared to have passed.

According to related sources, this PMJS admission exam took place on December 22 at 10 a.m. The oral exam was scheduled for that day at 2:30 pm, following the announcement of the written exam results. In actuality, however, the oral exam takes place one hour following the written exam. Later, in the final result, the names of the 26 participants in the written exam were published with the name of another individual. By December 31st, those 27 individuals were expected to finish the admissions process. Even so, 21 individuals were admitted in the end.

Questions arose when Eva Khatun, not part of any examination, appeared for classes starting January 14. Another issue is that Mithu Chandra Sheel, the Joint General Secretary of Dhaka University Jagannath Hall Branch Chhatra League could not take part in the examination in time, his exam was held privately later.

Attempts to seek clarification from the Department of Japanese Studies resulted in conflicting responses. Chief administrative officer Sheikh Saidur Rahman initially hinted at vacant seats, but later claimed the admission process had concluded. Chairman Jahangir Alam cited illness as the reason for Mithu Chandra's delayed examination, yet others were reportedly tested without proper procedure.

In response, Vice-Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal emphasized the necessity of adherence to admission protocols and pledged to investigate any irregularities.
