‘Irregularities in use of grants won’t be tolerated’

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek said the government is working for the socio-economic development of the common people. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is thinking of the future of the students and is providing various facilities including stipends and grants. The authorities need to ensure that the money is distributed properly. No irregularities in the distribution of grants will be tolerated.

He made the remarks while distributing socio-economic fund grants among small businessmen, apprentices and school students in Khulna's 22 ward on Thursday. 

The grants were provided under the KCC's Marginalized Community Improvement Project, the National Urban Poverty Reduction Program, funded by DFID and UNDP, in collaboration with the Department of Local Government.

Expert, CDC, cluster representatives and beneficiaries including Md. Mostafa Mia, Town Manager of Marginalized Living Standards Development Project were present on the occasion.

It is to be noted that as per the rules of the project, in the first installment Tk 88,500 was provided to 24 students and Tk 80,000 was provided to 10 small businessmen at the time.

In addition, as per the allocation for 2019, Chitra CDC cluster a total of Tk 14 lakh 13 thousand 500 will be provided to 334 students, apprentices and small businessmen. This project is running in 30 wards except 23 ward of Khulna city.
