Irregularities in relief distribution won’t be tolerated

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque has warned that no irregularities in the distribution of relief would be tolerated and relief should be properly distributed. 

He said this while distributing relief goods to the unemployed low-income workers and the poor at the Ward Councilor Office premises of the city on Wednesday.

Under the 'Humanitarian Assistance Program' announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to prevent coronavirus, the essential supplies of rice, pulses, potatoes, soap and salt were distributed among the low-income workers and the poor.

The city mayor added that the government is and will always be on the side of the poor and helpless. The relief supplies will continue until the coronavirus reaches a tolerable level. No citizen of the country will have to starve. Calling on everyone to stay home to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus, the mayor said that relief would be provided to everyone's homes if needed. 

During the distribution of relief, MDA Babul Rana, general secretary of the metropolitan Awami League, Imam Hasan Chowdhury Moina, ward councilor of number 23 and Conservative women councilor Kanika Saha were present among others. The City Mayor distributed relief to a total of 283 unemployed low-income workers and poor people in the ward number 23.
