IQAC workshop held at NDUB

Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) organized a workshop on Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, conducted by the Director of IQAC, Professor of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, BUET Dr M Rafiqul Islam on Friday from 8am to 5pm.

The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr Fr Patrick D Gaffney, CSC, vice chancellor of NDUB. The convener of the workshop was Dr Fr Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, Deputy Registrar, NDUB.

Dr Rafiq presented his talk in three sessions where he focused on the definition of ‘Quality Education’, ‘Self-Assessment Exercise’, ‘External and Internal Assessment Procedure’, and ‘Programme/Course Outcomes’.

Dr Rafiq shared, “By quality education, it is internationally meant to make students capable of the four elements to perform: knowledge, skills, attitude, and values.” He further mentioned while discussing the Assessment Exercise and Procedure, how the academics can prepare teaching and learning outcomes. 

Dr Rafiq emphasized, “It’s not what you want to teach, rather, what students should learn.”

Dr Rafiq ended with group activities where faculty members of all five departments of NDUB participated to share their knowledge about course content planning and outcomes.

The final session ended with certificate giving ceremony where Dr Fr Leonard Shankar Rozario, CSC, deputy registrar, NDUB and Dr Br Leo J Pereira, CSC, deputy controller of examinations gave vote of thanks to the Director of IQAC.

The other administrative authority who participated and organized the workshop are: Fr Edmond Cruze, CSC, Student Counselor and Director, Maintenance, Dr Br Leo J Pereira, Sr Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, assistant director, Student Affairs, and Sourav Palma, lecturer at the Department of English, NDUB.
