iPhone 19 may hide selfie cam under screen by 2027

Apple may launch an iPhone with a truly uninterrupted screen by 2027, according to a leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The leaker suggests that the iPhone 19 could feature an under-screen selfie camera, removing the need for a notch, punch-hole, or Dynamic Island.

Apple is expected to first hide Face ID sensors under the display in the iPhone 18 Pro, using tech that redirects infrared light through invisible gaps in the screen.

This method was hinted at in a recent Apple patent and confirmed by The Information, which reports a 2026 launch.

However, placing a front camera beneath the screen is more challenging. Current versions reduce photo quality, a major concern for Apple, given the selfie camera’s role in social media and everyday use.

Still, with the 2027 iPhone marking its 20th anniversary, Bloomberg reports Apple might debut an “extraordinarily complex” design, possibly making its long-envisioned all-glass iPhone a reality.
