IPDC-Prothom Alo honor 12 prominent teachers

IPDC Finance Limited, a leading private sector financial institution and daily Prothom Alo, have  honored 12 teachers at a reception ceremony at hotel Intercontinental Dhaka recently.

The reception event styled, ‘IPDC-Prothom Alo Priyo Shikkhok Shommanona’ was organised aiming to further strengthen their position and honour in the society in recognition of their outstanding contributions to society as a change maker.

One of the teachers, Jagdish Chandra Ghosh, a former teacher of Faridpur High School who is also known as 'Tarapad Sir', received lifetime achievement award.  He joined the Hitoishi School in Faridpur in the 1953, but in 1959, he started teaching at Faridpur High School and continued his long days of teaching here. He also received the honor of journalist Gautam Das in 2015. Tarapada Das of Jessore, Nashima Akhter, head teacher of  government girl's high school in Mymensingh, Nirupa Dewan, the former head teacher of Rangamati Government High School, Mofiz Uddin, Abdus Salam, Abul Hashem Mia, Lutfunnisa Khanam, a government teacher at Jamalkhan Kusumkumari City Corporation Girls' High School, head teacher of Karapara Sarat Chandra Secondary School in Bagerhat, Asadul Kabir; Former head teacher of Brahmanbaria Fatehpur KG Multipurpose High School, Shahjahan Kabir and former head teacher of Chittagong's Agrabad Government Colony High School, Shafiq Ullah are among the the recipients of the honour.

Prof Emeritus Anisuzzaman, National Professor; Professor Dr Parveen Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, Central Women's University (CWU); Mominul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of IPDC Finance Limited and Matiur Rahman, Editor of Daily Prothom Alo attended the event & shared their memories with their favorite teacher.       

Addressing the reception ceremony, Mominul Islam, Managing Director & CEO IPDC Finance Limited said, “Often we come across recognitions in our career but seldom have we taken a moment to express the gratitude to our true mentors whose endeavor has been the reason behind all of it. Our initiatives revolve around this feeling of gratitude and payback.’’ 

Matiur Rahman, Editor of Daily Prothom Alo said, “We have always tried to do something for the disadvantaged heroes who are dedicated to the welfare of the society. One of the milestones of this year has been undertaking the ‘Priyo Shikkhok Shommanona’ initiative with IPDC Finance on the way to that endeavor. ”
